Service Engineer

About the role

Wabtec is seeking a Service Engineer to lead scheduled, unscheduled and heavy maintenance, as well as wreck repair of 4500 HP and 6000 HP locomotives. The role ensures work is completed on time, within budget and to quality standards while maintaining all required documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Direct and oversee maintenance activities for 4500 HP and 6000 HP locomotives, including scheduled, unscheduled, heavy maintenance and wreck repair.
• Ensure work scopes are followed and documentation is accurate.
• Promote a safe work environment and keep work areas clean and orderly.
• Comply with local regulations and customer safety policies.
• Coordinate with technicians to meet timelines, cost targets and quality expectations.

Required profile

• B.E./B.Tech in Engineering or relevant technical diploma.
• 7–12 years of experience in locomotive or rolling‑stock maintenance operations.
• Willingness to work 24 × 7 shifts.
• Experience working in a shop environment and in the transportation industry.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Required skills

• Technical knowledge of rolling‑stock components such as engines, bogies, brake systems, traction motors and control systems.
• Ability to analyse and troubleshoot locomotive faults.
• Comfort with adopting IT monitoring systems for locomotive maintenance.
• Commitment to safe and environmentally‑compliant work practices.
