Senior Software Engineer II (Azure, .NET, Angular, AI/ML)

About the role

Optum, part of UnitedHealth Group, is hiring a Senior Software Engineer II in Bangalore. The role provides technical leadership for an engineering team building high-impact, business-critical features for high-visibility products, using cloud-native enterprise solutions built on Microsoft Azure.NET and Angular, and driving AI and generative AI initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for the engineering team, ensuring solution quality, scalability, reliability and maintainability.
• Architect, design and implement cloud-native enterprise solutions on Microsoft Azure.NET and Angular.
• Lead the design and implementation of AI, machine learning and generative AI initiatives that improve business processes, automate workflows and enhance customer experiences.
• Drive adoption of RAG architectures, prompt engineering best practices and AI orchestration frameworks such as LangChain and LangGraph.
• Work with Product Managers, business stakeholders, data scientists and architects to turn business requirements into technical solutions.
• Mentor and coach engineers through architecture and code reviews, design discussions and knowledge sharing.
• Enforce engineering best practices: secure coding, design patterns, performance optimization, testing strategies and architectural governance.
• Lead technical design discussions and contribute to strategic technology decisions aligned with enterprise architecture and cloud strategy.
• Drive DevOps maturity with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, monitoring, observability and release management.
• Adopt AI-powered SDLC tools to improve developer productivity, code quality and delivery speed.
• Keep up with emerging technologies and recommend solutions that deliver measurable business value.

Required profile

• Graduate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Extensive software engineering experience with proven expertise in Microsoft Azure.NET, Angular and AI/ML technologies.
• Proven experience leading engineering teams and delivering enterprise-scale cloud applications and AI-driven solutions.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum environments focused on continuous improvement and engineering best practices.
