Senior Software Engineer II – Agentic AI

About the role

DigitalOcean’s Agentic AI organization is building a powerful inference cloud, Managed Agents, and robust Feedback systems. As a Senior Software Engineer on the Feedback Systems team, you will design and develop high‑throughput backend infrastructure that safely tests and evaluates AI agents at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain robust backend services and highly concurrent asynchronous workflows using Python and Go.
• Integrate control planes with isolated, secure execution environments to run agents and capture artifacts.
• Develop and operate scalable APIs (gRPC, REST) that connect data pipelines, evaluation engines, and internal platforms.
• Monitor system performance, investigate bottlenecks, and ensure high reliability of orchestration systems.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience building highly concurrent, fault‑tolerant distributed systems.
• Deep proficiency in Python and Go (or strong experience in C++/Java with a willingness to master Python and Go quickly).
• Hands‑on experience with durable workflow orchestration engines for managing distributed state and long‑running asynchronous tasks.
• Strong knowledge of containerization, virtualization, or secure workload isolation technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, or microVMs.
