Senior Health Security Specialist (Consultant)

About the role

The Lead for Health Security will drive PATH’s strategic initiatives within its health security portfolio, ensuring effective implementation, coordination, and advocacy at both national and state levels in India. This senior position requires deep technical expertise in One Health, antimicrobial resistance, disease surveillance, and pandemic preparedness.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance and strategic direction for health security projects, aligning them with national priorities and donor requirements.
• Oversee design, implementation, and evaluation of interventions across surveillance, preparedness, and response domains.
• Lead day‑to‑day project operations, manage budgets, work plans, and risk mitigation strategies.
• Supervise and mentor project teams, fostering accountability and collaboration.
• Serve as primary liaison with donors, government officials, and partners; represent PATH in high‑level meetings and policy dialogues.
• Lead development of proposals, concept notes, and donor reports; identify funding opportunities.
• Oversee monitoring, evaluation, and learning frameworks, ensuring timely reporting and knowledge dissemination.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in public health, epidemiology, health management, or a related field (essential).
• Medical or allied health degree (MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS) with MPH or equivalent (preferred).
• Minimum 15 + years of progressive experience in public health security, disease surveillance, or related areas.
• Proven experience managing large, donor‑funded projects and leading multi‑stakeholder teams.
• Strong track record of stakeholder engagement at national and state levels.
