Sales and Use Tax - Tax Senior

About the role

EY's Indirect Tax practice manages global accounts across 8 GDS locations and over 30 countries, and is looking for a Senior in its Sales and Use Tax team in Bengaluru. The role covers sales and use tax returns, with assistance and coaching from experienced colleagues and opportunities to develop new skills.

Key responsibilities

• Review and reconcile tax value notices and tax bills, and liaise with taxing jurisdictions to resolve discrepancies
• Monitor changes in state and local tax legislation and rates, and incorporate them into monthly procedures
• Oversee returns reviewed by the senior, following standard operating procedures, and report issues to the manager/senior manager
• Perform first-level reviews and sign off returns prepared by preparers
• Lead and coach the team, and contribute to process improvements and automation
• Independently prepare tax computations and returns, and work with data from sources of varying complexity

Required profile

• 3-6 years of experience in the domain
• Graduate or postgraduate degree from any stream
• Experience handling a diverse team and handling sales and use tax returns
• Good written and spoken English, and good interpersonal and communication skills

Required skills

• Knowledge of sales and use tax concepts and research tools such as Vertex
• Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Power Query and Power BI (ideally)
• Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint and analytics tools
• Knowledge of budgeting, reporting and billing and the financial aspects of projects
