Robotics Software Engineer

About the role

Cosmoserve Space is looking for a Robotics Software Engineer to develop and maintain the full software stack of its state‑of‑the‑art robotics laboratory. You will work on production‑grade ROS 2 systems that support proximity‑operations research for space debris removal, collaborating closely with Controls and Model‑Based Design engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain large‑scale ROS 2 based software, including node architecture, launch files, and lifecycle management.
• Implement robot kinematics, dynamics, coordinate transforms, Jacobian‑based velocity mapping, and trajectory execution pipelines.
• Write clean, modular C++ and Python code with unit tests, code reviews, version control, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Create and support custom ROS 2 packages for control, state management, sensor processing, and inter‑system communication.
• Ensure software reliability, debug faults across drivers to high‑level orchestration, and manage dependencies across multiple robot platforms.
• Maintain ROS 2 workspace configurations and system environments to guarantee maximum lab uptime.

Required profile

• Proven experience developing ROS 2 software for robotic platforms.
• Strong understanding of robot kinematics, dynamics, and coordinate transformations.
• Ability to produce production‑quality C++ and Python code following best engineering practices.
• Experience with software testing, continuous integration, and version control systems.
