Resident Engineer – Civil Projects

About the role

Resident Engineer (Civil) will provide technical and administrative leadership for the design, construction and supervision of berth and related structures for the New Mangalore Port Authority, working within a dedicated supervision team.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the client in reviewing contractor securities, insurance and safety plans.
• Scrutinize the contractor’s work programme and deployment scheme for plant, equipment and machinery.
• Interpret contract documents and technical specifications for the client.
• Support the Chief Engineer in site hand‑over and issuance of work commencement orders.
• Supervise works, develop and apply quantity and quality control procedures, and define acceptance criteria.
• Prepare and issue variation orders after client approval and evaluate contractor claims.
• Verify and certify interim certificates, bills and final statements for the engineer‑in‑charge.
• Monitor physical and financial progress, prepare quarterly budgets and estimates, and conduct monthly progress meetings.
• Compile monthly and quarterly progress reports and ensure timely project completion.
• Prepare the final Project Completion Report and advise on delays, root causes and mitigation measures.

Required profile

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in the port sector, including leadership of PMC teams on at least five port‑related projects such as breakwaters, berths, jetties, quays, dredging or reclamation.
