Research Engineer – Neuro‑Symbolic AI & Multimodal Assistant Systems

About the role

We are seeking a Research Engineer to drive Neuro‑Symbolic AI innovations at Bosch’s Bengaluru centre. You will integrate formal knowledge representations such as knowledge graphs with cutting‑edge machine‑learning and deep‑learning techniques to create explainable, trustworthy multimodal AI assistants.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct research on Neuro‑Symbolic AI, merging knowledge graphs with modern ML/DL models.
• Design multimodal data pipelines that combine text, structured data, and visual or sensor inputs.
• Develop knowledge‑driven AI systems with natural‑language interaction, ensuring explainability and human‑centred behaviour.
• Integrate Neuro‑Symbolic reasoning with large language models and multimodal foundation models using knowledge grounding and structured retrieval.
• Create and evolve semantic assets—ontologies, knowledge graphs, semantic data models, and symbolic rules—that underpin production‑oriented AI systems.
• Prototype, benchmark, and validate concepts through experiments and real‑world use cases.
• Collaborate with international, cross‑disciplinary teams to translate research into business‑relevant solutions.
• Contribute to technology transfer, patents, and publications in top conferences and journals.

Required profile

• Ph.D., M.S. or M.Tech in Computer Science, AI, NLP, linguistics, cognitive science or a related field from a top institute.
• Minimum 3 years of professional or applied research experience in AI/ML.
