Process Quality Engineer (Charger)

About the role

Exponent Energy is looking for a Process Quality Engineer to own manufacturing and build-stage quality for its charger product line within New Product Development in Bengaluru. The engineer ensures build processes consistently deliver on design intent, from PFMEA through end-of-line testing and field commissioning. The role suits someone with hands-on manufacturing quality experience, strong root cause analysis instincts and willingness to travel to installation sites.

Key responsibilities

• Apply PFMEA to charger manufacturing and assembly processes and identify and mitigate build-stage quality risks before they affect production
• Define end-of-line (EOL) test requirements and acceptance criteria
• Run root cause analysis (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone) on build and manufacturing issues and track corrective actions to closure with manufacturing and design teams
• Translate design specifications into manufacturing test cases
• Travel to installation sites to commission chargers after installation, certify them as ready for operation and report field issues back to design and process teams
• Support process audits and layered process audits (LPA), and drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce build defects

Required profile

• B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics or a related field
• 1-3 years of experience in manufacturing or process quality engineering
• Willingness to travel for site commissioning work
• Preferred: prior experience in electronics or power product manufacturing, exposure to EV charger or field commissioning work, familiarity with IATF 16949 process documentation

Required skills

• Working knowledge of PFMEA, control plans and EOL test definition
• Familiarity with RCA methodologies (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone)
• Structured problem-solving, ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment and resilience after setbacks
