Principal Customer Application Engineer - Power Conversion & Motor Control

About the role

NXP is looking for a Senior Customer Application Support Engineer (CAS) in Bangalore to lead advanced technical support for power conversion, motor control and energy management solutions across key customer accounts in India. The role combines deep technical expertise with hands-on customer engagement to support design-in, optimize system performance and enable mass production deployments.

Key responsibilities

• Lead customer design-in for power conversion and motor control applications, covering architecture, design, validation, optimization and production, including troubleshooting and design reviews.
• Guide customers on power topologies (AC-DC, DC-DC, on-board chargers, inverters, SMPS, PFC, DAB, LL resonant) and recommend power devices and gate-driver strategies.
• Support motor control for BLDC, PMSM, induction and SRM motors, including FOC, sensorless control and MCU/MPU/NPU-based platforms for EV traction, robotics, whitegoods, industrial drives and HVAC.
• Develop application notes, schematics, reference designs and customer kits, and create training material and workshops.
• Bridge India customers with global R&D and product teams, feeding field feedback into the roadmap and supporting evaluation platforms and silicon validation.
• Work with sales and business development on early architecture decisions, PoCs and prototypes.

Required profile

• 7-12+ years of experience in power electronics, motor control or applications engineering.
• B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Electronics or a related field.
• Strong customer-facing communication and presentation skills, and ability to work across teams and explain complex topics simply.
• Certifications in power electronics or motor control are a plus.

• Power supplies, converters, inverters and high-voltage design.
• BLDC/PMSM motor control, FOC, PWM strategies and gate drive tuning.
• MCU/MPU/dSPIC/ARM Cortex microcontrollers.
• Oscilloscopes, power analyzers, current probes, MATLAB/Simulink, PSIM, LTspice.
