Principal Control System Engineer

About the role

The Principal Control System Engineer will conceptualize, design and develop industrialised solutions based on Siemens PLC technology for cable manufacturing, ROVs, AMRs and other electro‑mechanical systems. The role acts as system architect, defines technical specifications and leads the automation team to deliver high‑performance control systems worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement Siemens S7‑1500F/1200F PLC control logic, hardware architecture and cost estimations for diverse production facilities.
• Supervise and mentor entry‑level engineers on automation projects, reviewing their work and ensuring compliance with test processes.
• Develop and run proof‑of‑concept software on target hardware platforms and conduct qualification tests for Siemens control equipment.
• Support field trials of developed products at global locations and coordinate project deliveries with Automation & Control teams worldwide.
• Review mechanical, electrical and network block diagrams, approve documentation and act as single point of contact for business units.

Required profile

• Post‑graduation (M.Sc.) in Automation & Control, Electrical Engineering or Electronics & Communication, or a Bachelor’s degree with at least eight years of relevant experience.
• Minimum six years of industry experience in Siemens PLC‑based control system development.
• Strong communication skills in English and proven ability to present technical information to managers, clients and cross‑functional teams.

• EtherNet, ControlNet network protocols.
• Programming in C and Python.
