Plumbing & Fire Fighting Design Engineer (2-8 yrs)

About the role

We are looking for a qualified Plumbing & Fire Fighting Design Engineer to lead the design, hydraulic calculations and coordination of public health engineering and fire protection systems for high‑rise commercial, residential and mixed‑use projects.

Key responsibilities

• Perform hydraulic calculations for domestic water demand, booster pump sizing, pipe friction loss and pressure‑reducing valve zoning.
• Design soil, waste, vent, drainage and rainwater/stormwater systems, including gravity and syphonic calculations.
• Carry out fire protection hydraulic design – sprinkler density, standpipe/hydrant flow, fire pump sizing and related equipment.
• Develop sewage treatment plant capacities, grey‑water recycling and rainwater harvesting networks.
• Prepare design basis reports, schematic riser diagrams, equipment layouts, plant‑room drawings and detailed BOQs.
• Coordinate service routes with structural, architectural, HVAC and electrical disciplines to resolve clashes.
• Ensure compliance with NBC, municipal bylaws and international standards such as NFPA, UPC and IPC, and prepare submission documents for fire‑department NOCs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Mechanical or Civil Engineering.
• 2–8 years of experience in MEP design consultancy or design‑build firms on high‑rise projects (≥45 m / 15+ stories).
• Strong knowledge of high‑rise pressure distribution, backflow prevention, deluge/pre‑action systems and sustainable water management.

Required skills

• AutoCAD (mandatory)
• Revit MEP / BIM environment (highly desirable)
• Hydraulic sizing software such as EPANET, HASS, Elite Fire, Pipe‑Flo or advanced Excel models
• Proficiency in preparing design basis reports, equipment schedules and tender documentation
• Familiarity with NBC, NFPA (10, 13, 14, 20, 24) and related codes
