P&ID Designer / Drafter

About the role

Gradiant, a global water‑treatment specialist, is seeking an experienced P&ID Designer to join its Engineering Center in Coimbatore. The role involves creating and maintaining piping and instrumentation diagrams for both international and local projects, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and update Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) and Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) for complex water‑treatment projects.
• Maintain dimensional accuracy, adhere to the project design basis, and incorporate the latest specifications.
• Manage drawing revisions and document control in line with strict company procedures.
• Collaborate with process, mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering teams to integrate multidisciplinary inputs.
• Ensure all drawings meet company, project‑specific, and industry standards such as ASME, BIS and ISO.
• Follow internal CAD standards, including layering, naming conventions and drawing formats.
• Stay current with drafting best practices and software updates to improve efficiency.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical, Civil, Chemical or related engineering.
• 8‑10 years of hands‑on experience designing P&IDs for large‑scale projects.
• Proven ability to work on international projects and coordinate with cross‑functional teams.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication.

Required skills

• AutoCAD (experience with AutoCAD 3D preferred).
• Proficiency in creating and interpreting P&ID symbols, legends and tagging.
• Solid understanding of piping systems, process equipment and instrumentation symbology.
• Familiarity with industry standards such as ASME, BIS and ISO.
