Ophthalmologist – Full‑time, On‑site

About the role

PURNIMA NETRALAYA is seeking a qualified Ophthalmologist to join its eye‑care centre in Jamshedpur. This full‑time, on‑site position involves delivering comprehensive outpatient eye services, from routine examinations to surgical assistance.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct outpatient consultations and detailed eye examinations.
• Diagnose ocular conditions and develop medical and surgical treatment plans.
• Prescribe medications, corrective lenses, and perform minor procedures.
• Assist in or lead ophthalmic surgeries as appropriate.
• Operate diagnostic equipment and laser technologies following evidence‑based protocols.
• Maintain accurate medical records and participate in quality‑improvement activities.
• Collaborate with optometrists and other clinical staff, providing patient and family counseling.

Required profile

• Recognised medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) with postgraduate qualification in Ophthalmology (MS/MD/DNB or equivalent).
• Valid medical registration.
• Strong diagnostic judgment and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to continuing medical education and evidence‑based practice.

Required skills

• Comprehensive eye examination.
• Ophthalmic laser procedures and safe operation of laser equipment.
• Ophthalmic surgery (pre‑operative assessment, intra‑operative care, post‑operative follow‑up).
• Refraction and prescription of corrective lenses.
• Use of diagnostic ophthalmic equipment.
