Nursing Superintendent

About the role

The organization is a leading multi‑specialty healthcare provider in India, seeking a Nursing Superintendent to lead nursing operations across several hospital units. This senior role combines clinical governance, staff development, and quality improvement to ensure safe, high‑quality patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise nursing activities across multiple departments, ensuring compliance with Indian Nursing Council standards and internal protocols.
• Oversee recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance evaluation to maintain optimal patient‑to‑nurse ratios.
• Collaborate with clinical leads, administration, and quality teams to implement infection control, medication safety, and patient safety initiatives.
• Manage daily nursing workflows, including handovers, documentation, equipment readiness, and incident reporting.
• Drive staff development through mentoring, CMEs, skill audits, and career pathway planning.
• Represent nursing leadership in hospital‑wide committees, audits, and accreditation readiness (NABH, JCI, etc.).

Required profile

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. Nursing with a valid Indian Nursing Council registration.
• Proven experience as a Nursing Superintendent in a multi‑departmental hospital.
• Familiarity with NABH and JCI accreditation frameworks.
• Background in critical care areas such as ICU, ER, or OT is preferred.

Required skills

• Knowledge of NABH accreditation standards.
• Knowledge of JCI accreditation standards.
• Experience with EMR/nursing informatics workflows.
• Proficiency in nursing documentation and audit‑trail systems.
