About the role

The Nurse In Charge leads the daily operations of an assigned nursing unit, ensuring safe, efficient, and high‑quality patient care. This position coordinates multidisciplinary teams, oversees staff performance, and maintains compliance with hospital policies and accreditation standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily nursing activities in the designated ward or unit.
• Prepare and manage staff duty rosters, shift schedules, and leave planning.
• Monitor nursing documentation for completeness and accuracy.
• Oversee medication administration and enforce safety protocols.
• Ensure compliance with NABH standards, infection‑control guidelines, and hospital policies.
• Collaborate with doctors, laboratory, pharmacy, and other departments for effective patient care.
• Mentor, guide, and evaluate nursing staff to maintain professional standards.
• Conduct patient rounds and address concerns promptly.
• Monitor ward inventory, medical equipment, and consumables, reporting shortages.
• Participate in quality‑improvement initiatives, audits, and accreditation activities.
• Organize staff orientation, training, and continuing‑education programs.
• Maintain emergency preparedness and handle critical situations.
• Prepare regular reports for management.

Required profile

• GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery), B.Sc. Nursing, or M.Sc. Nursing.
• Valid registration with the Nursing Council.
• 1–5 years of clinical nursing experience; supervisory experience preferred.
