MES Functional Consultant – Automotive Manufacturing

About the role

We are looking for an experienced MES Functional Consultant to lead MES/MOM initiatives within automotive manufacturing. The role focuses on designing, configuring and deploying MES solutions across body shop, paint shop, engine, transmission, assembly and logistics for both two‑ and four‑wheel vehicle production.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate business requirement workshops with production, quality, maintenance, logistics and engineering teams.
• Conduct AS‑IS/TO‑BE process mapping, fit‑gap analysis and functional design for MES programs.
• Define functional specifications, user stories, business rules, workflows and acceptance criteria.
• Design and configure MES functionalities such as production execution, order management, planning & scheduling, quality management, traceability, and vehicle dispatch.
• Collaborate with developers, architects and shop‑floor personnel to ensure successful delivery.
• Support SIT, UAT, deployment, hyper‑care and user training activities.
• Drive process standardisation, best‑practice adoption and global roll‑outs across multiple plants.
• Participate in pre‑sales activities, effort estimation, demonstrations and RFP responses.

Required profile

• 10–12 years of MES/MOM consulting experience, with at least 5 years in automotive manufacturing.
• Hands‑on involvement in a full MES implementation lifecycle.
• Deep knowledge of 2‑wheeler and 4‑wheeler production processes and vehicle traceability.
• Experience working with OEMs or Tier‑1 suppliers.
• Strong stakeholder‑management and workshop‑facilitation skills.

Required skills

• MES/MOM platforms: Apriso, Critical Manufacturing, Opcenter, TrakSYS, SAP DMC (or similar).
• Manufacturing process modelling and requirements management.
• Fit‑gap analysis, test scenario creation and UAT management.
• Shop‑floor integration concepts and ERP integration (SAP preferred).
• Reporting, manufacturing analytics and traceability solutions.
• Industry 4.0 and smart‑factory concepts.
