Mechanical Design Engineer – Sheet Metal Specialist

About the role

Sulzer is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to develop mechanical products and systems used in energy production, transmission, and measurement. This early‑career position allows you to apply broad theoretical knowledge while working closely with senior engineers to investigate and solve design challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to team efforts by developing detailed solutions within the concept phase.
• Create CAD models for product ranges, including parts and assemblies.
• Produce 3D models and manufacturing drawings for parts and assemblies.
• Generate supporting documentation such as exploded views, dimensioned drawings, and P&ID diagrams.
• Produce images from CAD for inclusion in manuals.
• Coordinate and report progress to Sulzer legal entities.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience.
• Experience in sheet‑metal design and knowledge of manufacturing methods, laser cutting, nesting, and welding of sheet‑metal parts.
• Understanding of mechanisms such as bearings and lubrication.
• Proficiency with sheet‑metal modules in Inventor and Vault; Fusion 360 knowledge is a plus.
• Basic familiarity with systematic risk management (e.g., FMEA) and ability to perform simple strength calculations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Fluent English.
