Machine Learning Engineer – Conversational AI

About the role

Coinbase is looking for an IC4 Machine Learning Engineer to advance its conversational ecosystem. You will design and implement a unified orchestration layer that connects vendor AI, internal multi‑agent systems, and human participants, delivering secure, compliant, and scalable AI‑powered support.

Key responsibilities

• Build and improve the orchestration layer that manages state transitions, context sharing, and intent routing across vendor and internal LLM frameworks.
• Develop production‑grade Python services that integrate advanced AI capabilities into customer‑facing products.
• Drive end‑to‑end ML projects from design through delivery, collaborating with cross‑functional teams.
• Contribute to system design, coding standards, and AI/ML best practices across the team.

Required profile

• 2+ years of professional experience in machine learning and software engineering, with production‑grade ML services shipped.
• Hands‑on experience with modern AI architectures such as LLMs and deep learning.
• Strong proficiency in Python and ability to write clean, maintainable, well‑tested code.
• Working knowledge in at least one domain such as NLP, information retrieval, computer vision, or statistical modeling.
