Localization Software Engineer – Automation & CI/CD

About the role

As a Software Engineer (Localization Automation & CI/CD) supporting Phone, PC, and Tablet products, you will ensure our apps and device UI experiences are globally ready across all form factors. You will own day‑to‑day localization tooling and workflows, write simple automation wrappers, and independently resolve routine pipeline and tooling issues so localization work is not blocked on other engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, analyze, and process UI strings, app content, and resource files for localization across phone, PC, and tablet products.
• Own and operate localization tooling for day‑to‑day requests, running existing scripts and writing thin Python/Shell wrappers as needed.
• Build and maintain automation scripts and CI/CD pipelines that drive end‑to‑end localization workflows.
• Author and maintain Jenkins jobs and GitHub Actions workflows for string extraction, validation, builds, and delivery.
• Troubleshoot routine failures across CI, client tooling, APIs, and data layers, escalating only when design changes are required.
• Collaborate with linguists, PMs, and platform engineers to integrate localized assets and resolve blockers.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or related field (Master's preferred).
• 3–6+ years of experience in localization engineering, software development, or a related technical role.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work across multiple teams and systems.
• Experience mentoring or leading a small engineering team (preferred for senior candidates).

Required skills

• Python scripting (including thin wrappers around existing tools and CLIs).
• Shell/Bash/PowerShell proficiency.
• Git command‑line expertise (branching, merging, rebasing, conflict resolution).
• Experience with GitHub and/or Gerrit workflows.
• Jenkins and/or GitHub Actions pipeline development and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of localization file formats such as XML, JSON, CSV, and YAML.
