Legal Counsel – Corporate & Investment Bank Payments Associate

About the role

JPMorgan Chase is seeking a motivated Legal Counsel to join its Corporate & Investment Bank Payments team. The role supports a range of cash and liquidity management, digital asset, merchant acquiring, and trade finance products across APAC and EMEA.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and support to Payments businesses on client‑related transactional matters.
• Review, negotiate, draft and finalize contracts with borrowers, customers and partner banks.
• Liaise with local, regional and global legal teams, as well as functional and business partners, on cross‑border and cross‑business projects.
• Instruct and manage outside counsel as needed.
• Contribute to initiatives that improve operational efficiency and scalability of legal services.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with 2‑4 years of post‑qualification experience.
• Experience in cash management, liquidity, e‑commerce, financial market infrastructure, credit transactions, supply chain finance, factoring, receivables purchase, ICC Uniform Practices, or merchant acquiring.
• Strong drafting, negotiation and legal analytical abilities.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in cross‑functional, cross‑jurisdictional teams.
