Lead System Admin

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Lead System Administrator to manage, maintain, and optimise our organisation’s IT infrastructure. The role combines hands‑on technical work with strategic oversight of security, virtualization, and cloud operations.

Key responsibilities

• Implement, configure and monitor firewall policies to ensure secure access.
• Deploy and manage endpoint security solutions such as antivirus and EDR.
• Provide technical assistance for desktops, laptops, applications and peripherals.
• Manage and secure domain controllers, authentication, replication and GPO policies.
• Configure and troubleshoot VLANs, routing, switching and WLAN infrastructure.
• Install, upgrade and troubleshoot physical servers, including RAID configuration and management.
• Administer VMware platforms – provisioning, migration and performance monitoring.
• Maintain Windows Server environments – installation, patching and troubleshooting.
• Support data‑center activities: monitoring, capacity planning, backup and recovery.
• Manage backups with Veeam and native tools, ensuring reliable recovery.
• Install, configure and maintain Linux environments.
• Create and maintain documentation and infrastructure diagrams.
• Support cloud operations and hybrid integrations.
• Develop automation scripts in PowerShell, Python or Batch.
• Ensure ISO compliance and maintain IT asset inventories.
• Administer Office 365 services and support Google Workspace.

Required profile

• Strong experience with VMware virtualization.
• Solid knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory and domain controller management.
• Hands‑on Linux systems administration.
• Robust networking skills (VLANs, routing, WLAN, firewall configuration).
• Proficiency in server hardware, RAID management and endpoint protection.
• Experience with Veeam backup solutions and ISO compliance.
• Familiarity with infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible.
• Cloud infrastructure knowledge, preferably AWS.
• Experience with Mobile Device Management and Office 365 administration.
• Strong scripting abilities in PowerShell, Python or Batch.
