Lead Mainframe z/OS Security and Site Reliability Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Lead Mainframe z/OS Security and Site Reliability Engineer to drive the security and reliability of our critical mainframe environment. The role combines deep technical expertise with leadership of cross‑functional teams to deliver modernization, integration and migration initiatives for our insurance/financial services platform.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement security policies and site‑reliability practices for IBM z/OS, WLM and RACF.
• Lead modernization, integration and migration projects, ensuring seamless transition to hybrid and cloud‑enabled architectures.
• Coordinate and mentor cross‑functional teams, managing multiple complex projects simultaneously.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to align mainframe strategies with business objectives.
• Drive automation using Ansible, Python and RedHat Ansible for IBM Z Collections.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 8+ years of mainframe engineering experience, including 3‑5+ years in a lead, service‑delivery, development or architect role.
• Proven ability to lead teams, communicate effectively with stakeholders and solve complex problems.
• Experience in the insurance or financial services industry is a plus.

• IBM z/OS, Workload Manager (WLM), RACF.
• Mainframe modernization, integration and migration.
• Cloud integration, DevOps, zLinux, OpenShift.
• Automation tools: RedHat Ansible for IBM Z Collections, Ansible, Python.
• Understanding of hybrid IT architectures and emerging technology trends.
