Lead Arborist

About the role

The Lead Arborist will oversee advanced tree care operations, ensuring safety and quality across all projects. This senior position requires extensive field experience and the ability to lead a team of arboricultural professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Perform modern arboricultural practices at a high level, including climbing and working aloft in tree canopies of any size.
• Utilize SRS, MRS, and traditional climbing methods, and conduct spur‑assisted hazard tree removal.
• Prune trees to ISA standards and operate aerial lifts for pruning and removal with precision.
• Execute technical rigging for large limb and tree removal, and install static and dynamic cabling and bracing systems.
• Conduct aerial rescues and ensure safe work practices and proper PPE usage.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of industry experience and post‑secondary education related to arboriculture.
• Excellent client communication and customer service skills.
• Valid driver’s licence with a clean abstract; WHMIS, Working at Heights and First Aid certifications.
• Relevant certifications such as ISA Certified Arborist, Ontario Certified Arborist, Utility Arborist 444B, or crane competency are assets.

Required skills

• Proficiency in SRS and MRS climbing techniques.
• Experience with spur‑assisted hazard tree removal and rigging.
• Ability to prune to ISA standards and operate aerial lifts, brush chippers, stumpers and chainsaws.
• Knowledge of installing static and dynamic cabling and bracing systems.
• Capability to perform aerial rescues safely.
