Lead Arborist

About the role

The Lead Arborist will oversee all tree care operations, ensuring safety, quality, and compliance with industry standards. This senior position requires extensive hands‑on experience in modern arboricultural practices and the ability to lead a team of arborists and crew members.

Key responsibilities

• Perform advanced tree climbing, pruning, and hazard removal using SRS, MRS, and traditional methods.
• Operate aerial lifts, brush chippers, stumpers, and chainsaws safely and efficiently.
• Execute technical rigging, static and dynamic cabling, and bracing systems for large‑limb and tree removals.
• Conduct aerial rescues and install safety systems as needed.
• Lead and mentor crew members, ensuring clear communication with clients and adherence to safety protocols.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of professional arboriculture experience.
• Post‑secondary education related to arboriculture or a recognized certification.
• Valid driver’s licence with a clean abstract; D licence with Z endorsement preferred.
• Current Working at Heights, WHMIS, and First Aid certifications.
• Strong client communication and customer‑service skills.

Required skills

• SRS and MRS climbing techniques.
• Traditional tree‑climbing and spur‑assisted hazard removal.
• Operation of aerial lifts, brush chippers, stumpers, chainsaws, and 0‑8 tonne cranes.
• Technical rigging, static and dynamic cabling, and bracing system installation.
• ISA Certified Arborist or Ontario Certified Arborist (preferred).
