Lead Arborist

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Lead Arborist to oversee advanced tree care operations, ensuring safety and quality across all projects. The role involves climbing, pruning, and removing trees of any size while coordinating with clients and team members.

Key responsibilities

• Perform modern arboricultural practices at a high level, including climbing and working aloft safely in any tree canopy.
• Utilize Single Rope System (SRS), Moving Rope System (MRS), and traditional climbing methods, as well as spur‑assisted hazard tree removal.
• Prune trees to International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) standards and operate aerial lifts for pruning and tree removal with care.
• Execute technical rigging for large limb and tree removal, perform aerial rescues, and install static and dynamic cabling and bracing systems.
• Demonstrate safe work practices, proper PPE use, and effective communication with colleagues and clients.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of industry experience in arboriculture.
• Post‑secondary education related to arboriculture.
• Excellent client communication and customer service skills.
• Valid driver’s licence with a clean abstract.
• Working at Heights, WHMIS and First Aid certifications.
• ISA Certified Arborist or Ontario Certified Arborist (preferred).
• Additional assets: 0‑8 tonne crane competency, Utility Arborist 444B, IHSA Line Clearing Safety and Awareness, D licence with Z endorsement.

Required skills

• Proficiency with SRS, MRS, and spur‑assisted climbing techniques.
• Operation of aerial lifts, brush chippers, stumpers and chainsaws.
• Technical rigging, cabling and bracing system installation.
• Aerial rescue capabilities.
• Pruning to ISA standards.
