Golf Course Assistant/Superintendent in Training

About the role

The Golf Course Assistant/Superintendent in Training supports the Superintendent in maintaining a high‑quality, sustainable golf course. Working on‑site, you will help oversee turf health, equipment, and crew while gaining hands‑on experience in all aspects of golf course management.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine turf inspections and apply mowing, fertilising, aerating, watering and pest‑control practices.
• Monitor soil health and adjust management plans to improve turf quality.
• Ensure correct use and storage of fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides in line with safety and environmental regulations.
• Supervise, train and evaluate grounds‑crew members, schedule daily tasks and enforce safety procedures.
• Maintain and repair maintenance equipment such as mowers, carts and irrigation systems.
• Assist with the upkeep of tee boxes, fairways, greens, bunkers and roughs.
• Monitor and adjust irrigation schedules to optimise water use.
• Identify and manage pests, weeds and diseases using integrated pest‑management practices.
• Track inventory levels for chemicals and maintenance supplies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in turfgrass management, horticulture, agronomy or related field preferred; relevant program completion or extensive experience also considered.
• 2‑3 years of golf‑course maintenance experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
• Familiarity with turf‑grass science, irrigation systems and course‑maintenance equipment.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physical labour.
