Lead Arborist

About the role

The Lead Arborist will oversee advanced tree care operations, ensuring safety, quality, and client satisfaction across a variety of tree canopy projects. This senior‑level position requires expertise in modern arboricultural techniques and the ability to lead a team in complex tree removal and preservation tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Perform high‑level arboricultural duties, including climbing and working safely in tree canopies of any size.
• Utilize Single Rope System (SRS), Multiple Rope System (MRS), and traditional climbing methods for efficient access.
• Execute spur‑assisted hazard tree removals and prune trees to International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) standards.
• Operate aerial lifts, brush chippers, stumpers, and chainsaws with precision.
• Conduct technical rigging for large limb and tree removal, and perform aerial rescues when required.
• Install static and dynamic cabling and bracing systems to support tree health.
• Demonstrate safe work practices, proper PPE usage, and clear communication with colleagues and clients.

Required profile

• Minimum of 4 years of professional arboriculture experience.
• Post‑secondary education related to arboriculture.
• Valid driver’s licence with a clean abstract.
• Certifications: Working at Heights, WHMIS, First Aid.
• ISA Certified Arborist or Ontario Certified Arborist (444A) preferred.
• Additional assets: 0‑8 tonne crane competency, Utility Arborist (444B), IHSA Line Clearing Safety and Awareness, D licence with Z endorsement.
