Information Security Engineer

About the role

The Incident Detection and Response (ID&R) team at Cisco protects the company’s digital footprint by detecting, responding to, and mitigating security incidents. As an Information Security Engineer you will act as the Splunk domain expert, ensuring the security detection platform remains robust, up‑to‑date, and aligned with business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary Splunk administrator, configuring and tuning Splunk Enterprise Security and Splunk Cloud.
• Learn, evaluate, and deploy new security technologies to support detection and response.
• Update, modify, and enhance existing security detection programs and lead software upgrades.
• Maintain the production security environment, troubleshoot issues, and drive resolutions.
• Participate in a 24 × 7 duty rotation to ensure data availability.
• Document custom solutions and processes.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of Splunk administration experience.
• Hands‑on experience with Splunk Enterprise Security, Splunk Cloud, Search Head and Indexer clustering.
• Proficiency in onboarding new data sources and automating operational tasks.
• Familiarity with other SIEMs (e.g., ELK, ExaBeam) is a plus.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and AWS deployment tools (AMI, CloudFormation).
• Strong Linux/UNIX background and scripting skills (Python, Perl).
• Ability to work with GitHub, Jira Service Desk, and ServiceNow.
