Independent Director

About the role

The Board is seeking an Independent Director to bring capital‑allocation discipline and robust governance to a fast‑growing equipment‑rental business. The role will help transform an entrepreneurial fleet operation into a controlled public‑market institution, ensuring safety, profitability and transparent reporting as the company prepares for a potential listing.

Key responsibilities

• Define and monitor economic utilisation metrics across calendar, mechanical and billable days.
• Build asset‑level return visibility by tracking acquisition cost, financing, mobilisation, maintenance, downtime, insurance, revenue, collections and disposal proceeds.
• Challenge fleet procurement decisions with evidence‑based demand, customer concentration, lead‑time, service capability and whole‑life economics.
• Strengthen residual‑value governance using independent market evidence, condition data and usage intensity.
• Protect maintenance integrity by reviewing preventive‑maintenance completion, defect closure and parts quality.
• Ensure safety standards are never compromised by commercial pressure, overseeing operator qualification and machine fitness.
• Provide oversight of credit, contract governance, related‑party risk and IPO‑related metrics.

Required profile

• Proven board or senior governance experience in asset‑intensive or equipment‑rental businesses.
• Strong financial and analytical background with ability to assess capital allocation, profitability and risk.
• Deep understanding of fleet strategy, asset accounting and maintenance assurance.
• Independent judgment and willingness to challenge growth plans funded by debt or equity.
• Commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
