Graduate Engineer Trainee – After Sales Service

About the role

Exponent Energy is hiring a Graduate Engineer Trainee for its After Sales / Service Engineering team in Bengaluru. The team supports field operations across the company's LV (3-wheeler), HV (bus) and battery service lines, helping customers get 15-minute rapid charging at all times. The role combines on-site and remote technical support, fault diagnosis and customer interface.

Key responsibilities

• Provide on-site and remote technical support for LV, HV vehicle and battery systems, aiming to meet vehicle turnaround time commitments.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot battery packs, powertrain, motors and charging systems, working alongside senior engineers on complex issues.
• Analyse failure data to identify root causes and define corrective and preventive actions.
• Assist with battery pack rework, battery swap operations and failure investigations.
• Support periodic maintenance schedules and service campaigns.
• Maintain service records and prepare technical reports.
• Give field feedback to engineering and product teams to improve serviceability.
• Interact with customers and fleet operators, explaining issues and solutions simply and guiding safe operation and maintenance.
• Track issues to closure, keep stakeholders informed and escalate critical issues promptly.

Required profile

• 0-1 year of relevant experience; fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics & Communication, Mechanical, Automobile, Mechatronics or equivalent engineering.
• Strong fundamentals in electrical and mechanical engineering with an interest in EV systems.
• Willingness to travel extensively and relocate to field or depot locations.
• Good English; regional language fluency is a plus.

Required skills

• Basic understanding of high-voltage systems, HVIL, signal circuits and power connections, or willingness to learn.
• Basic understanding of CAN communication and CAN-based diagnostics, or willingness to learn.
• Familiarity with multimeters, clamp meters, oscilloscopes and insulation testers (good to have).
• Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams and DTCs, and use diagnostic software or OEM tools.
