GKE Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a seasoned GKE Engineer to lead the deployment and lifecycle management of production Google Kubernetes Engine clusters. The role involves driving automation, ensuring security, and optimizing performance across our cloud infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Lead deployment and lifecycle management of production GKE clusters, including node pool configurations, version upgrades, and multi‑zonal availability.
• Architect and maintain sophisticated CI/CD pipelines for microservices using ArgoCD (GitOps) and GitHub Actions to provide a push‑to‑deploy developer experience.
• Drive 100% automation by provisioning and managing all GCP resources with Terraform.
• Implement proactive monitoring, fine‑tune cluster performance, and achieve cost‑optimization through strategic autoscaling (HPA/VPA) and right‑sizing.
• Establish a Zero Trust framework within the cluster by configuring granular IAM roles, least‑privilege service accounts, and FQDN‑based network policies.
• Serve as the subject‑matter expert for Helm, managing complex manifest updates, Custom Resource Definitions (CRDs), and Kubernetes Operators.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering with a strong focus on Kubernetes.
• Deep architectural knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).
• Proven track record implementing GitOps workflows using ArgoCD and automating pipelines with GitHub Actions.
• Expert‑level proficiency in Terraform for managing complex cloud environments.
• Advanced experience modifying Helm charts, managing CRDs, and using the Kubernetes CLI (kubectl) for deep‑dive troubleshooting.
• Solid understanding of Kubernetes networking, including Ingress controllers, load balancers, and FQDN network policies.
