Financial Controller

About the role

The Financial Controller will lead Mainstreet’s accounting function from its headquarters in Mumbai. This full‑time, on‑site position is responsible for delivering accurate financial statements, managing the closing process and providing insight to drive strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance and month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end closing.
• Prepare, review and ensure compliance of financial statements with applicable standards and regulations.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis to support business planning.
• Monitor cash flow, analyse financial performance and present data‑driven insights to senior management.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to optimise financial processes, internal controls and audit procedures.
• Ensure compliance with statutory regulations and tax requirements.
• Coordinate and support external auditors during audit cycles.
• Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; professional certifications such as CA, CPA or CMA are a plus.
• Proven experience in financial reporting, general ledger management and month‑end closing.
• Strong analytical ability to interpret financial data and identify trends.
• Ability to work on‑site in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and manage multiple priorities.
