Experienced Embedded Firmware/Software Engineer

About the role

NXP is looking for an experienced Embedded Firmware/Software Engineer in Noida to develop HAL and peripheral device drivers for the MCX, Crossover RT and i.MX families of devices (I2C, SPI, UART, USB, etc.) in standalone bare-metal, ROM and RTOS environments. The role also covers verification of ROM code on pre-silicon platforms, customer support and open-source contributions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop HAL and peripheral device drivers for MCX, Crossover RT and i.MX devices in bare-metal, ROM and RTOS environments
• Deliver high-quality, well-documented and tested code for customers' reference and use
• Verify ROM code and other software deliverables on pre-silicon test and debug environments such as RTL and emulation platforms
• Support key customers and analyze, investigate and resolve system-level issues with global teams
• Contribute to internal and external open-source projects, triage issues, review pull requests and maintain code quality in public repositories

Required profile

• BS/MS degree in EE or Computer Engineering with an embedded software focus, or equivalent experience
• MS with 3 years of experience or BS with 5 years of experience in the related field
• Mentoring is provided by senior members of the system ROM team with over 10 years of experience

Required skills

• Familiarity with ARM assembly, C/C++/Rust/Python is a plus
• Preferred: Flash, SPI, I2C, USB, UART, CAN; ARM and RISC-V architectures
• Preferred: GCC, GNU make, IAR, Keil, DS-5 compilers; JIRA, Bitbucket; logic analyzers and oscilloscopes
• Preferred: experience as a maintainer or significant contributor to a well-known open-source project
