Engineering Manager

About the role

DigitalOcean is looking for a technical Engineering Manager to lead a mixed‑skill team building customer and platform engineering products. You will guide vision, prioritize work, and empower engineers to deliver creative cloud solutions for our global customers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a back‑end team developing gRPC APIs and operating observability infrastructure (metrics, logging, alerting).
• Define and track Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) to measure team success.
• Collaborate with UI/UX, product, customer success, marketing, and engineering groups to shape roadmaps.
• Review architectural designs, pair with leads on feature delivery, and resolve defects.
• Provide career coaching, performance assessments, and support on‑call escalation and post‑incident improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 4+ years in senior leadership or management.
• Proven track record delivering complex cloud‑scale distributed systems, especially in customer‑facing contexts.
