Engineering Manager - Core Experiences

About the role

Databricks is building the world’s best data and AI platform and is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the Core Experiences Platforms organization in Bengaluru. The team owns the foundational services that power workspaces, notebooks, SQL queries and the serving infrastructure behind multiple user experiences. You will be responsible for designing, building and operating highly available, scalable platforms that support Databricks’ rapid growth across clouds and regions.

Key responsibilities

• Hire and develop a high‑performing engineering team.
• Provide career development, feedback and mentorship to engineers and emerging leaders.
• Establish and enforce technical standards through architecture reviews, testing and a culture of engineering excellence.
• Collaborate with product and engineering leadership to define a long‑term roadmap.
• Coordinate execution across multiple product teams to deliver platform features and improvements.

Required profile

• Proven ability to recruit, grow and lead engineering talent, especially future leaders.
• Experience creating efficient processes that improve delivery velocity and quality.
• 2+ years managing teams building high‑volume distributed systems in a SaaS environment.
• 5+ years designing and operating distributed platforms serving multiple products and customers.
• Track record scaling engineering teams from 5 to 20+ members.
• Strong collaboration skills with product, customer success and other engineering groups.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field.
