Engineer Gears & Shafts

About the role

Magna Powertrain is seeking a motivated Engineer to take design responsibility for gears, shafts, differentials, bearings, sealings, screws and related minor parts. You will work within a global team that develops cutting‑edge automotive powertrain technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Interface with plants, suppliers, purchasing and Supplier Quality Development in simultaneous‑engineering meetings.
• Create and maintain technical drawings, 3D models (Catia V5), BOMs and data exchanges with internal and external partners.
• Develop and update the book of requirements, technical specifications and PLM change requests.
• Conduct design and functional approvals, tolerance calculations and package investigations.
• Handle design deviations, process change requests and coordinate with BB, FG and PL departments.
• Analyse failure mechanisms together with labs, testing sites and suppliers.
• Participate in problem‑solving teams (PLT/8D), supplier evaluations and technical reviews.

Required profile

• Proven experience in design and development of gears and shafts.
• Hands‑on knowledge of manufacturing technologies for powertrain components.
• Independent, solution‑oriented work style with strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Experience collaborating in PLT/8D problem‑solving teams.
