Engineer Gearbox Housing Design

About the role

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to create concept designs for gearbox housings, covers, brackets and related components. The role involves developing both prototype and serial solutions for gearbox and hybrid/e‑drive systems, ensuring designs meet manufacturing and performance requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Creation of concept designs for gearbox housings, covers, brackets and related components.
• Prototype and serial development and detailed design of gearbox and hybrid/e‑drive components, focusing on housings.
• Deriving technical drawings and manufacturing designs for the created parts and assemblies.
• Preparing technical presentations, tolerance calculations and interpreting casting simulations and CAE results.
• Coordinating with suppliers and project teams on change management, FMEA, requirements and interface definition.
• Supporting prototype testing and evaluating test results, e.g., lubrication tests.

Required profile

• Completed studies in Mechanical Engineering or a comparable discipline.
• 3‑5 years of experience in gearbox, housing or related component design.
• Proactive, solution‑oriented and structured working style with resilience.
• Strong teamwork, quality awareness and independent working style.

Required skills

• Professional level in CATIA.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications.
• Experience with casting simulation and CAE calculations.
• Knowledge of FMEA and change‑management tools.
• Basic understanding of hydraulics and electrification of automotive gearboxes.
• Familiarity with gearbox systems, inverters and cooling systems.
