Mechanical Engineering Manager – OLED Tooling

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a seasoned Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead the development and maintenance of tooling for OLED evaporation systems and large‑format glass substrate handling. The role is based in Bangalore and focuses on delivering high‑quality, safe, and cost‑effective solutions for display manufacturing.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the engineering group responsible for maintenance modules, system tooling design, and large‑format glass handling equipment.
• Provide technical leadership for OLED evaporator tooling projects, ensuring on‑time delivery and customer satisfaction.
• Ensure tooling designs comply with SEMI safety standards and regional EHS requirements.
• Drive safety, tooling standardisation, and preventive‑maintenance time reduction using AI‑enabled digital tools.
• Mentor supervisors and technical leaders, manage budgets, and oversee hiring, retention, and professional development.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 10–15 years of experience in heavy equipment development and tooling for display manufacturing.
• Proven ability to manage cross‑functional teams and external contractors.
• Strong understanding of SEMI, ASME, and ISO design standards.

Required skills

• Proficiency with 3D CAD software (3D modelling and 2D/3D drawings).
• Expertise in SEMI safety standards, ASME, and ISO design standards.
• Experience designing heavy‑material handling equipment and tooling.
