Embedded Bootloader Software Engineer (Automotive)

About the role

Join Bosch's Global Software Technologies team in Coimbatore as an Embedded Bootloader Software Engineer. You will lead the design and implementation of flash bootloaders and security features for automotive ECUs, working with AUTOSAR‑compliant stacks and modern debugging tools.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end development of Flash Bootloaders (FBL) using ETAS RTA‑FBL or similar AUTOSAR stacks.
• Integrate security mechanisms such as Hardware Security Modules, Secure Boot and Secure Flash to protect ECU firmware.
• Design and implement UDS (ISO 14229) services at the application layer for CAN‑FD and Automotive Ethernet communication.
• Configure and integrate MCAL layers for NXP S32K3xx and Renesas RH850 microcontrollers, and manage low‑level driver integration for transceivers and SBCs.
• Mentor junior engineers and coordinate cross‑functional teams to deliver ASPICE‑compliant software.
• Perform system‑level debugging with Lauterbach Trace32, Multi‑GHS and validate protocols using Vector CANoe/CANalyzer.
• Interact with OEM project teams for requirement clarification, field issue analysis and debugging.

Required profile

• 4‑8 years of experience in the automotive domain.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (B.E/B.Tech/M.Tech).
• Strong communication and leadership abilities.

Required skills

• C programming with MISRA compliance.
• Embedded fundamentals and microcontroller architectures (NXP S32K3xx, Renesas RH850).
• Peripheral interfaces: ADC, PWM, DAC, DIO, I2C, SPI, UART, CAN.
• AUTOSAR knowledge (COM stack, Memory stack, Diagnostic Communication Manager).
• Bootloader development and secure boot implementation.
• UDS protocol (ISO 14229‑1) and diagnostic services.
• MCAL integration and transceiver driver development.
• Debugging tools: Lauterbach Trace32, GHS, Renesas E1/E2, GDB, T32 scripting.
• Vector CANoe and CANalyzer for protocol validation.
• Scripting languages: Java, Perl, Python, CAPL.
• Familiarity with development life‑cycle models (V‑model, Waterfall, Agile) and process standards (CMMI, ASPICE).
