Electrical Workshop Engineer

About the role

The Electrical Workshop Engineer is responsible for delivering workshop services and overseeing all electrical maintenance activities. The role ensures motors are overhauled, rewound and repaired during shutdowns, and that new and existing motors are tested according to best‑in‑class practices while complying with statutory and organisational policies.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, schedule and execute daily, weekly and monthly electrical maintenance tasks in coordination with planning and plant maintenance teams.
• Oversee LT and HT motor maintenance, including overhaul, rewinding, repair and testing during normal operation and shutdown periods.
• Maintain and preserve spare LT motors and manage inventory of critical electrical spares.
• Perform preventive maintenance on auxiliary equipment such as water coolers, domestic refrigerators and street lighting.
• Ensure all work is recorded in the CMMS/Workshop management system and that maintenance KPIs are achieved.
• Assist in budgeting, cost optimisation and resource planning for workshop electrical activities.
• Coordinate with external service providers and other functions for repairs and upgrades.
• Support planned turnarounds, shutdown services and calibration of electrical equipment.

Required profile

• Proven experience in workshop electrical maintenance and motor servicing.
• Familiarity with statutory compliance, organisational policies and standard operating procedures.
• Ability to develop and follow test procedures and maintenance schedules.
• Strong coordination skills with planning, plant maintenance and external vendors.
