Electrical Engineer – Solar PV & Substation Design

About the role

We are looking for an Electrical Engineer with strong hands‑on experience in detailed design of solar PV plants and high‑voltage switchyards/substations. The role involves delivering complete engineering packages, from calculations to layout drawings, ensuring compliance with national and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform detailed electrical engineering design for solar PV power plants.
• Develop detailed designs for 33/220 kV and 33/400 kV switchyards and substations.
• Carry out substation engineering calculations including earthing grid, lightning protection, sag tension, short‑circuit forces and conductor rating.
• Prepare key single‑line diagrams (SLD), protection SLDs, equipment plans, DSLP layouts, earthing and cable routing layouts.
• Size electrical equipment such as cables, transformers, batteries, UPS systems and current/voltage transformers (CT‑PT).
• Produce detailed equipment layout and routing drawings.
• Ensure all designs comply with IS, IEC, IEEE and CBIP standards.

Required profile

• Proven hands‑on experience in detailed electrical design for solar PV and high‑voltage substations.
• Familiarity with substation calculation methods and equipment sizing.
• Ability to generate complete design documentation and layout drawings.

Required skills

• ETAP software proficiency.
• Solar PV plant engineering.
• Substation design (33/220 kV, 33/400 kV).
• Earthing grid design and lightning protection.
• Sag tension and short‑circuit force analysis.
• Conductor short‑time and continuous rating calculations.
• Equipment sizing (cables, transformers, battery, UPS, CT‑PT).
• Preparation of SLD, protection SLD, DSLP, earthing and cable routing layouts.
• Knowledge of IS, IEC, IEEE and CBIP standards.
