Duty Manager – Hotel Operations

About the role

The Duty Manager ensures seamless daily operations at the hotel, acting as the primary point of contact for guests and staff. This role combines leadership, operational oversight, and guest‑service excellence to maintain high standards across all front‑of‑house functions.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct daily briefings and communicate essential information to all team members.
• Supervise staff to guarantee the highest quality service and adherence to department standards.
• Review workflow and front‑desk standards, suggesting improvements where needed.
• Analyze rate variance reports, approve discounts/rebates, and monitor room revenue control.
• Coordinate with the Front Office Manager on guest services and overall hotel operations.
• Document guest‑related issues in the logbook and manage shift handover procedures.
• Collaborate with other hotel departments on administrative and operational matters.
• Maintain a visible management presence, handling guest needs and complaints promptly.
• Inspect front‑of‑house and back‑of‑house areas for cleanliness and orderliness.
• Ensure compliance with marketing techniques, billing instructions, and guest credit monitoring.
• Manage full‑house situations, overbooking, and relocation arrangements.
• Oversee on‑call valet desks, driveways, and safety, security, and loss‑control procedures.
• Respond to hotel emergencies and ensure appropriate emergency protocols are followed.
