Desktop Support Engineer

About the role

PRGX is seeking a proactive Desktop Support Engineer to join its IT team in Pune. You will be responsible for ensuring that all end‑user devices and related hardware operate smoothly, providing timely support to employees and maintaining the company’s IT asset inventory.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and configure desktops, laptops, printers, projectors and other IT hardware.
• Provide desktop and application support based on service requests.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues for PCs, laptops, printers and peripherals.
• Use the ticketing system to track, communicate and escalate incidents within SLA.
• Assist new‑employee onboarding from an IT perspective, including workstation preparation and asset allocation.
• Perform asset tagging, inventory management and maintain asset allocation records.
• Install Windows OS and approved software; support remote installations of CentOS, SQL, Visual Studio, Java, etc.
• Maintain LAN networking, printers, EPABX/phone lines and coordinate with ISP for connectivity issues.
• Participate in scheduled maintenance activities, including weekend server rack setups and hardware replacements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree preferably in IT or related field.
• 1‑3 years of experience in desktop support or a similar technical role.
• Authorized to work in India without sponsorship.

Required skills

• Proficiency in installing and troubleshooting Windows OS.
• Experience with CentOS, SQL, Visual Studio and Java installations.
• Knowledge of LAN networking and EPABX/phone line maintenance.
• Familiarity with asset tagging, inventory management and ticketing tools.
