Design Engineer – Structural Repair Manual (SRM)

About the role

As a Design Engineer for the Structural Repair Manual (SRM) you will analyse aircraft structures, develop generic repair procedures and perform stress analyses for Airbus aircraft. You will create and publish SRM documentation covering the nose, centre fuselage, powerplant and wings, supporting airlines in safe and efficient aircraft dispatch and repair.

Key responsibilities

• Design repairs and define Allowable Damage Limits (ADLs) for composite and metallic damage on major structural components.
• Provide optimized, practical engineering repair solutions that meet airline efficiency and embodiment requirements.
• Support internal departments such as Aerodynamics, Lightning Strike, and Materials & Processes (M&P).
• Liaise regularly with Airbus international teams including Fatigue & Damage Tolerance, Static Stress, Aerodynamics, M&P, and the Authoring team.
• Implement change‑management initiatives to improve team efficiency, focusing on methods and process optimisation.

Required skills

• Knowledge of aircraft structures (composite and metallic).
• Stress analysis and repair design expertise.

• Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and Airbus documentation (SRM, AMM, IPC, design/maintenance manuals).
• Experience translating customer requirements into operational deliverables.
