Design Engineer – Solar (Electrical AC)

About the role

As a Design Engineer (Electrical – AC) at Assystem, you will be responsible for preparing, reviewing and executing engineering activities for solar power plants. You will work under the direction of the Design Lead and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure compliant and high‑quality designs.

Key responsibilities

• Review and approve drawings produced by draftsmen in a timely manner.
• Coordinate interdisciplinary checks with civil, structural, MEP and instrumentation departments to obtain design concurrence.
• Ensure all designs comply with specification requirements and quality system checklists.
• Review vendor offers and documentation, and conduct pre‑tender engineering including BOM estimation and offer reviews.
• Prepare design calculations for solar PV power plants, including cable sizing, transformer sizing, earthing, LT/HT breaker selection, busbar, UPS, battery, and short‑circuit analysis.
• Compare bill of material with tender quantities to verify accuracy.

Required profile

• B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical or Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
• 3–7 years of experience in design aspects of Solar PV power plants or power distribution projects.

Required skills

• Electrical AC design for solar PV power plants.
• Creation and review of AC single‑line diagrams (SLD) and building layouts.
• BIM 3D modeling for substations.
• Cable sizing and transformer sizing calculations.
• Earthing system design and short‑circuit analysis.
• Bill of Materials preparation and vendor offer evaluation.
