Design Engineer - Mechanical

About the role

HAEFELY, a Basel-based company with more than 120 years of history and part of the PFIFFNER Group, develops high-voltage testing and measurement technology to support the energy transition. It is hiring a Design Engineer - Mechanical for its subsidiary in Nashik, India, working on electro-mechanical products.

Key responsibilities

• Create CAD drawings, 3D models and assemblies according to design standards and customer requirements, and ensure release in the PLM/ERP system
• Mechanical and electrical validation of components
• Investigate alternative materials and manufacturing technologies
• Redesign non-critical parts with approval
• Carry out cost analysis and propose manufacturing optimisation
• Prepare technical documents for internal or external use
• Handle normal administrative work if required

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering with 5+ years of experience
• 3+ years designing and developing electro-mechanical products
• Sound knowledge of moulded, sheet metal, machined and cast component design
• Analytical skills covering component design and selection, stresses, fatigue life, fits and ergonomic assembly methods
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, moulding, stamping, casting, welding and soldering
• Ability to work in an international, multilingual engineering team; proficiency in English, German is an advantage

Required skills

• Product design tools such as Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, AutoCAD and FEA
• Design calculations and standards such as IEC
• MS Office, especially Excel
