Senior Engineer / Assistant Manager – Front Line Manager

About the role

The Senior Engineer / Assistant Manager – Front Line Manager will supervise shift operations of a value stream, lead and motivate shop‑floor associates, and ensure safe, quality‑driven production. The role combines hands‑on production management with coaching, continuous‑improvement and employee‑relations responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Organise production set‑up according to schedule, assign tasks and drive SQCD targets (safety, quality, cost, delivery).
• Conduct daily shop‑floor checks, record shift events (attendance, breakdowns, quality issues) and hand over to the next shift.
• Track performance KPIs such as OEE, FPY, scrap and initiate corrective actions together with cross‑functional teams.
• Lead daily meetings, communicate company initiatives, and maintain transparent collaboration with associates, managers and vendors.
• Engage with associates on grievances, provide counselling and uphold industrial‑relations standards.
• Promote Kaizen ideas, coach teams on lean practices and implement change initiatives to improve VS performance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Production Engineering.
• Minimum 1 year experience in auto‑component or ancillary manufacturing.
• Experience managing unionised, non‑unionised or temporary workforces.
• Advanced knowledge of product drawings, BOM, PDS and manufacturing processes.

Required skills

• Operation of CNC machines and assembly MAE controls.
• Use of testing benches, special‑process instrumentation and measurement equipment.
• Handling of vision systems and scanners.
• Proficiency with SAP, MES, MAS and MS Office.
