Assistant Manager – Electrical Sourcing

About the role

Cavotec develops electrification and automation technologies for ports and industrial operations, and is hiring an Assistant Manager – Electrical Sourcing in Chennai. You will drive strategic sourcing, supplier development, commercial negotiations and procurement of electrical materials.

Key responsibilities

• Sourcing and procurement of HV and LV cables, composite cables, electrical panels, motors and electrical components for industrial, engineering and project applications
• Identify, evaluate and develop new suppliers, and manage supplier onboarding, evaluation, qualification and documentation
• Drive strategic sourcing initiatives and conduct techno-commercial evaluations of suppliers and quotations
• Negotiate price, payment terms and delivery schedules, and lead commercial negotiations
• Conduct market research for new suppliers, sourcing opportunities and cost-saving initiatives
• Coordinate with Engineering, Quality, Projects and other stakeholders on material and technical requirements
• Monitor supplier performance on cost, quality, delivery and responsiveness, and keep supplier and procurement data in the ERP system

Required profile

• 8-12 years of sourcing/procurement experience in the electrical, electrical engineering or related sectors
• Demonstrated hands-on experience in HV and LV cables / composite cables procurement
• Engineering qualification, preferably B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering
• Proficiency in English and Tamil; Hindi is an added advantage

Required skills

• Strong understanding of electrical cable specifications, supplier evaluation and techno-commercial assessment
• Good knowledge of electrical components, preferably panels, motors and associated materials
• Supplier development, commercial negotiations, cost optimization and procurement execution
• Ability to manage supplier identification, quotation evaluation, negotiation and purchase order follow-up independently
