Design Engineer (Automotive Connectors)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Design Engineer to lead the design and development of automotive connectors at our Bangalore development centre. The role involves creating parametric models, manufacturing drawings, and technical documentation while collaborating with cross‑functional teams to ensure product quality and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop automotive connector concepts from requirement analysis to detailed drawings.
• Create and maintain parametric CAD models and manufacturing documentation.
• Perform tolerance stack‑up, functional proof, and design calculations for connector assemblies.
• Implement Engineering Change Requests (ECR) on series parts and update technical documentation.
• Benchmark connectors, compare specifications, and validate designs against OEM requirements.
• Prepare material master data and Bill of Materials in SAP.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in the automotive connector industry.
• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and lead design projects.

Required skills

• Proficiency with UG NX and Teamcenter for CAD modeling.
• Experience with Creo for air‑gap and creepage calculations (advantageous).
• Knowledge of thermoplastics, elastomers, metals, plating materials, and related manufacturing processes (molding, stamping, plating, assembly).
• Understanding of GD&T, tolerance stack‑up, and tool design.
• Familiarity with SAP for material master and BOM creation.
• Competence with MS Project and MS Office tools.
